【评论】《张玉茂法国卢浮宫艺术大展》序言

  在当代中国纷繁多元的艺术创作语境中,像张玉茂这样,不温不火地沉醉于自己艺术实践,忠实于自己的感悟,默默地开垦属于自己的心田,以鲜明的艺术语言投射进创作中,并在传承中自我变革并成功叩开世界顶级艺术殿堂——卢浮宫之门的艺术家,尤为鲜见。

  癸巳年尾,张玉茂受法国美术家协会邀请,由辽宁日报传媒集团与法国美术家协会共同主办的“丹青世界行——当代中国画家张玉茂的个人画展”将在法国卢浮宫展出。届时,张玉茂将用属于自己的艺术表达形式,向世界诠释中国画艺术丰富而深刻的文化内涵。此次张玉茂举办的个展,是他作品第一次结集进入法国主流艺术阵地,也将是张氏山水画一场壮美的视觉旅程。

  正如画展总策展人张庆钧先生所说:“我们这次在法国举办张玉茂画展,就是与法国人进行文化交流,就要拿最好的作品,首先得让法国观众看得懂,理解艺术家的思想,感动艺术家的艺术表达,否则,就会产生隔阂甚至是误会。张玉茂的作品可以从几个层次上来解读,首先是中国的,其次是当代的,再次是世界的。张玉茂作品唯美,面貌丰富、独特,对中国画传统继承的比较彻底,非常潇洒地使用水与墨,作品虚幻空灵,同时他在色彩和构成上又大量地吸收了西方绘画的艺术元素,所以,他的山水画面貌就是中国画与西方的绘画表达很好地揉和在一起的,如雪落梅花,互相映衬,相互提升,毫无做作之感。所以,他的作品能够让不同地域、不同文化背景、不同身份的人看得懂,能理解,能共鸣,继而才能感动别人。

  张玉茂的作品有宏观的气度,把水与墨表现得淋漓尽致,咋看似江南画风:清秀、潇洒、迷离、飘逸。容易让人误会他是南方的画家,尽管他长期在南方生活,都无法屏蔽他身上的东北属性,细看他的画里有一片乡土,这片乡土是长白山密林的奇秀,是东北大平原黑土的厚实,是千里冰封的坚毅⋯⋯

  的确,张玉茂是在传承、寻求自我变革中成功的画家,他的艺术建立在前辈国画大家如张大千、黄宾虹、宋雨桂等人的语言和观点基础上,综合了中国画与西画的精华,形成了中西融合的风格面貌。他的作品题材都是自然山水,唯美,寄托了人类共同的情感,没有意识形态上的冲突。所以,无论他的作品到哪里展览,都没有障碍。

  了解他的人都知道张玉茂是个低调的人,不怎么参加展览和各种应酬,只下功夫潜心创作,一心就想把画画好。他是画家中少数的心中不想市场,静下心来对水墨深入探索的人。这是一种文化上的远见和坚实。看他的画作与画册,可见他的每一张作品都是创作,不重复自己,他常常是在宣纸上看两天才落墨,所以,经过反复思考的画面,灵感、意境与细节,是他深思熟虑的,因此,他的作品,呈现出了笔墨的瞬间力度和气质。

  张玉茂在生活上低调,在艺术上却毫不含糊,他把一切的精力用在了画画上,当生活的印记被时光之水淹没的时候,露出来的是艺术的山峰。我们希望五百年后人们也能谈论到张玉茂,就像我们今天在谈论沈周、文征明、唐寅和仇英。

  这些也许就是张玉茂能叩开卢浮宫艺术之门的原因吧!

  Preface

  In numerous and diverse creation environment for contemporary Chinese art, it’s rare for the artist to be gently intoxicated in his own artistic practice, to be faithful to his own feeling, to quietly reclaim his own field in heart, to put distinctive artistic language into creation, to self-transform in heritage and to successfully open the top art gallery of the world - door of the Louvre, like Zhang Yumao.

  At the end of 2013, invited by French Artists Association and hosted by Liaoning Daily Media Group and French Artists Association, World Trip of Painting – Solo Painting Exhibition of Contemporary Chinese Painter Zhang Yumao will be held in the Louvre of France, in which Zhang Yumao will interpret rich and profound cultural connotations of Chinese painting art with his own artistic expression. The solo painting exhibition is both first time for Zhang Yumao’s works entering French mainstream artistic field and a spectacular visual journey of Zhang’s landscape paintings.

  As the chief curator of the exhibition Mr. Zhang Qingjun said: “The reason that we hold Zhang Yumao’s painting exhibition in France is to have a cultural exchange with the French, so we must show the best works. First of all, the French audiences should understand the works and the artist’s idea and artistic expression; otherwise, there will be estrangement and even misunderstanding. Zhang Yumao’s works can be interpreted from several levels: Chinese, modern and world. His works are aesthetic, rich and unique, because he relatively completely inherited tradition of Chinese paintings, smartly used water and ink for illusory and ethereal works and absorbed a large number of elements of Western paintings. Therefore, his landscape paintings well combined expressions of Chinese and Western paintings, for example, snow on plum blossoms highlight and upgrade each other without sense of affectation; therefore, his works can be known, understood and resonated by people from different regions with different cultural backgrounds and different identities, and finally move them.

  Zhang Yumao’s works have macroscopic feeling and totally utilize water and ink. In first glance, his style is like regions in south of the Yangtze River, which is pretty, elegant, poetic and graceful. He is often regarded as a painter from the south, though he live in the south for long time, his characteristics of northeastern person can be covered. If you carefully observe his paintings, you will find his native land, which is beauty of dense forest in Changbai Mountain, thickness of black soil in northeastern plain and perseverance of boundless frozen land.

  Actually, Zhang Yumao is a painter who succeeded in heritage and self-transformation. His art is based on languages and ideas of previous masters on traditional Chinese painting, such as Zhang Daqian, Huang Binhong and Song Yugui. Combing essence of Chinese and Western paintings, he formed style of Chinese and Western integration. All themes of his works are beautiful landscape to express human beings’ common emotions without ideological conflict, so no matter where his works are exhibited, there is not obstacle.

  Those who are familiar with Zhang Yumao know that he is a low-key person. He seldom attend exhibitions and social engagements, but focusing on creation for painting. He is one of few painters who don’t care the market and deeply research on painting. It’s a cultural foresight and solidness. In his paintings and painting albums, every work is a creation never repeating himself. He often started painting after looking at the rice paper for two days. The picture, inspiration, mood and details are all results that he thought again and again, so his works showed instantaneous power and temperament of brushwork.

  Zhang Yumao is low-key in life, but unambiguous on art. He devotes all his energy to painting. When mark of life is flooded by water of time, peak of art will be exposed. We hope that people will talk about Zhang Yumao five hundred years later, as we are talking about Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming, Tang Yin and Qiu Ying today.

  Perhaps these are reasons why Zhang Yumao can open the door to the Louvre of art.
